Vad är ditt familjearkiv? Vilka och vad ingår i det? Vilka ljud väcker minnen hos dig om din familjehistoria och ditt arv? Vilka ljud kopplar du till ‘hem’ och vilken plats har det i ditt familjearkiv?
Här ber vi dig att ta med ljudmaterial (tex, en låt, barnramsa, slagord, atmosfärljud som gatuljud, från köket, demonstrationer osv.) eller ett specifikt minne av ett ljud som är kopplat till ditt familjearkiv och ‘hem’. Vi kommer att samtala utifrån dessa material och vilka minnen de väcker i oss och om våra familjearkiv. Samtalen spelas in och arkiveras.
Workshopen leds av Mmabatho Thobejane och kommer ske på engelska. Plats: Verkstan
Mmabatho Thobejane (she/they) är en sydafrikansk kulturarbetare och ngaka ya setso (traditionell healer) baserad i Stockholm, Sverige. För närvarande tillbringar hon större delen av sin tid som producent på MDT – Moderna Dansteatern, en av Sveriges ledande arenor för samtida koreografi och performance. Hon har kurerat utställningar och evenemang för institutioner som Index – The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation, Blå Stället och Tensta Konsthall. Genom Sonic Insurrections, ett pågående samarbete med curatorn, författaren och forskaren Tawanda Appiah, kuraterar hon en serie sammankomster där ljudet som medium står i centrum. Hon har publicerat texter i [In Review] och Errant Journal. Framför allt utforskar, fördjupar och utvecklar hennes forskningscentrerade praktik ”det andra”.

What is your family archive? Who and what is included in it? What sounds remind you of your family history and heritage? What sounds do you associate with ’home’ and what is its place in your family archive?
Here, we ask you to bring audio material (e.g. a song, nursery rhyme, slogans, atmospheric sounds such as street sounds, from the kitchen, demonstrations, etc.) or a specific memory of a sound linked to your family archive and ’home’.
We will have a conversation based on these materials and what memories they evoke in us and about our family archives.
The conversations will be recorded and archived. The workshop is led by Mmabatho Thobejane and will be conducted in English. Location: Verkstan.
Mmabatho Thobejane (she/they) is a South African cultural worker and ngaka ya setso (traditional healer) based in Stockholm, Sweden. At the moment she spends most of her time as a producer at MDT – Moderna Dansteatern, one of Sweden’s leading venues for contemporary choreography and performance. She has curated exhibitions and events for institutions such as Index – The Swedish Contemporary Art Foundation, Blå Stället, and Tensta Konsthall. Through Sonic Insurrections, an ongoing collaboration with curator, writer, and researcher Tawanda Appiah, she co-curates a series of gatherings that center sound as a medium. She has published texts in [In Review] and Errant Journal. Above all, her research-centered practice explores, immerses in, and unfolds, the ‘otherwise’.
